The Puerto Rico Innovation and Technology Service (PRITS), in collaboration with the Puerto Rico Highways and Transportation Authority (PRHTA), has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to explore the feasibility of deploying fiber-optic connectivity across approximately 1,229 traffic light intersections in Puerto Rico. This initiative aims to enhance traffic management, road safety, and smart mobility solutions by integrating these sites into a centralized traffic control network. The RFI seeks input from providers with existing broadband infrastructure on coverage areas, service availability, technical challenges, and implementation strategies.
Respondents are required to submit details on their network footprint, connectivity plans, scalability, and support services. The submission deadline is March 31, 2025, with inquiries accepted until February 24, 2025. This RFI is purely informational and does not constitute a solicitation or contractual obligation
